SCROG method: Horizontal net for uniform height “Screen of Green”

SCROG method – Do you want to know how a single plant grows into a uniform flower canopy full of thick buds? Then the SCROG method is right up your street! Yesterday we had our cannabis plantation check with Weedland and we talked about the SCROG method. Today we’ll show you how the so-called “Screen of Green” works and why this technique plays such an important role in our cannabis cultivation. Tip! In the video (below) you can see the method live.

What is the SCROG method?

SCROG stands for “Screen of Green” – a cultivation method in which plants are trained flat under a net. The aim is to produce as many evenly exposed flowers as possible.

Horizontal mesh for uniform height

A grid or net is placed at a fixed height above the plants. As soon as the shoots reach the net, they are guided sideways instead of upwards. This creates a horizontal surface with many evenly developed flowers.

More light = more buds

As all the shoots grow at the same distance from the light source, the plants benefit from optimum photosynthesis.

Compared to conventional methods, SCROG often leads to a higher yield per square meter – with better bud quality at the same time.

When and how is scrogging done?

The perfect time and the right preparation are crucial for success when scrogging – here are the basics.

Ideal time: Vegetative phase

Scrog training is usually started in the late growth phase. The plants must be strong enough to be bent several times. Intervening too early or too late can impair growth.

Technology: Bending instead of breaking

The shoots are gently bent under the net and fixed in place. Important: No hard pressure – otherwise the plants will break! The aim is to distribute as many shoots as possible over the net before the flowering phase begins.

  • Optimum net height: approx. 20-30 cm above the plant pot
  • Suitable for photoperiodic varieties
  • Recommended if space is limited
  • Maximizes light output and air circulation

Why we rely on SCROG at CannaZen

Our experience shows: The SCROG method has clear advantages, especially in professional indoor cultivation – for us and for you as a patient.

Consistent quality in every flower

Thanks to the flat structure, we achieve uniformly illuminated buds with uniform maturity. No fluffy side shoots, but compact, active substance-rich flowers from the center to the edge.

Sustainable & efficient

SCROG enables more yield with the same space requirement – a real advantage in sustainable, energy-optimized cultivation. Less waste, fewer resources – more impact.

Conclusion: Flat net, full power

The SCROG method is not a trick, but a precise cultivation technique with real added value. It stands for control, quality and efficiency.
