The 2025 federal election has significantly changed the balance of political power in Germany. With a higher voter turnout than in 2021 and a noticeable change in the issues that are important to voters. Here is an overview of the official election results:

Legalization

The Greens are in favour of maintaining and further developing the current legalization. They emphasize that controlled distribution curbs the black market and strengthens youth and health protection.

Private cultivation

Private home cultivation is acceptable to the Greens. Adults are allowed to grow up to three plants for their own use, which should further curb the black market.

Clubs

The Greens support the establishment of non-commercial growers’ associations. These should enable members to grow and consume together, subject to strict health protection and prevention requirements.

Free sale

Bündnis 90/Die Grünen is in favor of free sale in regulated stores. Controlled sales should further reduce the black market and strengthen consumer protection.
