The new laws that have regulated the handling of cannabis and cannabis products in Germany since April 1, 2024 are:

The Medical Cannabis Act regulates the medical use of cannabis in Germany and gives patients with a cannabis prescription access to medical cannabis. The Consumer Cannabis Act, on the other hand, concerns private and communal cultivation, as well as the possession and consumption of cannabis for recreational purposes.

  • Compulsory prescription! You must still have your medicinal cannabis prescribed by a doctor
  • You can have up to 100 grams per month – depending on your prescription

What you should know

Although the consumption of cannabis is now legal, it may not be consumed everywhere. The main reason for this is to protect children and young people and to avoid disturbing others.
