The 2025 federal election has significantly changed the balance of political power in Germany. With a higher voter turnout than in 2021 and a noticeable change in the issues that are important to voters. Here is an overview of the official election results:

What is her position on legalization?

The FDP is committed to maintaining and further developing the current legalization of cannabis. It emphasizes that legalization has put an end to the failed prohibition policy of recent years and that many citizens are no longer unnecessarily criminalized.

Private cultivation

Private home cultivation is acceptable to the FDP. Adults are allowed to grow up to three plants for their own use, which should further curb the black market.

Clubs

The FDP also supports the establishment of community social clubs (growers’ associations). From July 1, 2024, it will be possible to grow plants together in such clubs for consumption purposes. The produce may only be sold to members of the club.
