CBDA cannabis: effect, effect, flowers, recipe & store – Cannabidiolic acid

CBDA, cannabidiolic acid, is the precursor of CBD and is found in fresh, untreated cannabis flowers. Unlike CBD, CBDA is only produced when the acid is converted into cannabidiol by heat or UV light – a process known as decarboxylation. But what exactly is CBDA, how does it work in the body and why is it increasingly becoming the focus of medical research? Back to all of them: Cannabinoids in cannabis (active ingredients).

CBDA: What exactly is that?

Cannabinoide in Cannabis: CBDA → CBD

CBDA stands for cannabidiolic acid and is a naturally occurring cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. It is the precursor of CBD and is converted into active CBD by so-called decarboxylation – i.e. exposure to heat or UV light. The CBDA content is often particularly high in fresh flowers, while it usually drops significantly in heated products such as edibles.

  • CBDA stands for cannabidiolic acid
  • Precursor of CBD in fresh flowers
  • Converts to CBD when heated

CBDA content in flowers

Fresh, untreated cannabis flowers can contain particularly high amounts of CBDA. In the case of dried or heated flowers, the proportion drops significantly, as a large proportion is converted into CBD. Special CBD-rich varieties often also have a high CBDA content before they are further processed.

Fun fact: CBDA turns almost completely into CBD when smoked or vaporized – those who want the natural effect often rely on raw products or extracts.

Studies on CBCA

How CBDA works in the body

Wirkung von Cannabis, Beispiel CBDA

CBDA works differently than THC or CBD because it hardly binds directly to CB1 or CB2 receptors. Instead, it interacts with enzymes and serotonin receptors and could have anti-inflammatory, antiemetic (anti-nausea) and anti-anxiety effects. Initial studies also suggest that CBDA may enhance the effects of serotonin, which could play a role in the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression.

  • Does not have a psychoactive effect
  • Could have an anti-inflammatory and anxiolytic effect
  • Being researched for use in nausea and mood swings

How long CBDA works

The duration of effect of CBDA depends heavily on how it is consumed. In untreated cannabis flowers or special extracts, the effect is usually gentle and slow. When taken orally via CBDA extracts, the effect can last up to six hours.

Cannabinoids in comparison

Cannabinoide in Cannabis

Cannabinoids are the active ingredients of the cannabis plant and are responsible for its diverse effects. While THC has a psychoactive effect, CBD is relaxing and CBG is regulating, CBDA is becoming increasingly interesting medically as a natural precursor of CBD. CBDA could play an important role in the future, particularly in the area of nausea, anxiety disorders and inflammation.

CBDA is the “raw diamond cannabinoid”: it has a gentle, versatile effect and only unfolds its full potential when used in a targeted manner.

  • THC: psychoactive, euphoric
  • CBD: relaxing, anti-inflammatory
  • CBDA: natural, gentle, non-psychoactive

Entourage effect and CBDA

CBDA is an important component of the “entourage effect“, in which various cannabinoids work together to enhance the overall effect. Particularly exciting: CBDA can complement and enhance the effects of CBD without causing psychoactive effects itself. This is why CBDA-rich flowers and extracts are increasingly being used in medical applications.

For patients who do not want to be psychoactively impaired, CBDA could be an interesting alternative or supplement to classic CBD products.
