Among the strictest laws in Europe: an anti-drug clause was added to the constitution in April 2025. Possession can mean up to 2 years in prison, larger amounts up to 8 years, and over 100g can mean life imprisonment.
Medical program
No general medical program. Only Sativex is accessible, and only for narrow MS-spasticity indications.
Traveling with medical cannabis
Do not bring cannabis into Hungary under any circumstances, medical or not — there is no credible reciprocity protection given the severity of penalties.
